We’re hiring

Title: YouTube Video Editor

I’m looking to hire an experienced video editor as a subcontractor to create x2 Youtube videos (5-10 minutes length) and x12 Youtube Shorts per month.

I’m excited to 10x improve the videos I pump out on the ‘A Touchy Subject’ Youtube Channel (you’ll see why that’s a fun choice of words later on).

You’ll play a massive role in raising the standard with these key roles:

  • Editing my raw footage into professionally polished YT videos and Shorts.

  • Giving ideas on how to improve my at-home filming set-up, and reflecting on the latest YT Studio analytics together to keep improving.

  • Helping find and choose the perfect gifs/stock-footage to help people learn and laugh their way to a better sexual future!

About the Business

We are a sexual health education & resource hub that supports men/couples struggling with sexual function changes following prostate cancer treatment.

We’re all about normalising ‘touchy topics’ and reducing the stress and shame of what can be a challenging and isolating time.

In particular, we focus on producing free, valuable, audience-centric education to help people make informed choices regarding the products and rehabilitation strategies they invest in (our main product education is about vacuum erection devices, aka - penis pumps).

In 2024, we are going to streamline our content creation system so that we are always ahead of the game in producing our videos (at least one month in advance), this will free up time and space to reflect on the data and audience feedback to make reflective decisions on how to improve the next batch of content.

About this Exciting Role

You will have a proactive lead role in editing all future YouTube videos (currently we post twice a month, once we’ve got a streamlined process going I’d like to increase this to once a week).

In this role, you will be editing raw footage of me (Victoria) speaking to the camera, adding titles/animation, and choosing stock footage/gifs (with direction from myself) to add to the videos to make them more engaging and fun. You’ll be communicating with me during the editing process and we’ll have a once-a-month reflection and feedback session to reflect on what’s worked best to inform the next batch of videos and to keep improving our video creation process.

My goal is to focus most of my time on customer research, reading up on the latest research, and professional development to then turn key insights I find into videos. You are an extremely important piece of the puzzle to free up my energy and time so I can do that!

Your role will include:

  • Editing raw footage (to improve quality as well as cut together)

  • Finding stock footage/images and gifs

  • Adding titles and animation

  • Communicating, giving, and receiving feedback to improve the video process ongoing

More About You

You’ll have had a lot of experience editing someone else's YouTube videos and creating YouTube Shorts before.

For example, you know how to best communicate with a content creator during the editing process to ensure a smooth time-efficient process. You know how to create an engaging YouTube video that is optimised for retention beyond that holy-grail 30-second mark. You know how to create a YouTube Short that is engaging and informative.

You’d describe yourself as data-driven and creative.

This is perfect for someone who thrives on seeing the numbers go up and loves to come up with creative ideas on how to improve the performance of videos from audience feedback and data.

This is also great for someone who loves to know they’re making a genuine difference. We get a lot of thank you emails from people who felt completely alone until they found our YouTube channel, it’s one of the most rewarding parts of working at A Touchy Subject.

You’ll be comfortable creating content around the topic of sexual health (occasionally this might include nudity, this is for educational purposes only).

You’ve created educational content before that had a hint of humour thrown in.

It’s important that I can be prioritised as a client so time management and organisational skills are a must. You can decide your schedule in terms of when tasks are completed, so long as everything is scheduled on time.

In summary, this role is perfect for a proactive, creative, data-driven person who falls in love with seeing results (that ‘watch time’ going up will be a key metric!).

We’ll know this is working when the video process from raw to finished feels super smooth for both of us as an indicator of creating a slick n streamlined Youtube content creation system together.

What’s in it for You

You’ll be hugely valued here and you’ll benefit from working with someone who loves clarity, sees mistakes as opportunities to make a system better, and thrives on transparent and clear communication.

You’ll get to help people every day by creating content that is desperately missing in men/couple’s cancer after-care journey and can hugely improve their quality of life and mental well-being.

(You’ll also slowly gather an arse-nal of puns about all things ‘below the belt’, there won’t be a Dad-joke you can’t one-up!).
